Europe is home to some of the most impressive cities on the earth that save evidence of very important historical events. There are 45 European countries and each of them present unique culture.
Unlike the US where there are many big cities, the development of European countries is focused on the capital cities. In this article, we choose the most beautiful European capitals which are the cultural, business, and economical centers of their counties.
1. London, England
This is one of the most iconic cities not only in Europe but across the Globe. London is the economic, cultural, business, and art center of Great Britain. The city is very multicultural because it offers many workplaces, stable wages, and good conditions for life. After Brexit, there are fewer immigrants from other European cities, which makes the city less crowded.
In London, you can visit one of the most famous museums like the British Museum, Tate Modern, Victoria and Albert Museum, and Royal Academy of Arts. The lively city of London also offers great coffee shops, restaurants, and accommodations. The best thing is that everyone speaks English so you won’t feel lost in translation.
2. Dublin, Ireland
No surprise that the Irish capital is part of many bucket lists. Dublin is a vibrant city that offers great nightlife, good beer, and a cultural experience. When you go on your trip to Dublin is a must to visit famous Irish pubs and watch street musicians.
In Dublin, there is even a castle you can visit. This experience will bring you on an adventure through Irish history from the 13th century to the current moment.
3. Amsterdam, the Netherlands
One of the greenest cities in the world – Amsterdam has a lot to offer. Probably, you know that Amsterdam is one of the most liberal places as well. If you’re interested to experience the freedom that city provides don’t skip to have a walk in the red lights district.
The transportation system in Amsterdam is unique. People also don’t use buses or cars. They prefer riding a bike or taking a boat through city canals. The location of the capital is great because there is one of the biggest international Airports in Europe.
4. Paris, France
Is there anyone that hasn’t dreamed about visiting the city of love? Besides being the most romantic city, Paris is also a great example of rich French culture. The city offers a diversity of experiences like visiting the Louver Museum, tasting delicious French cuisine or going to Disney Land Paris.
As you know the symbol of the city is the famous Eifel Tower and taking a photo in front is a must during your trip to Paris.
5. Prague, Czech Republic
The capitals of Central and Eastern Europe are also worth visiting. The Czech capital has a mix of a Medieval and modern vibe. Compared to Western European cities, Prague is way more affordable which will give you the opportunity to take the best out of the city.
Prague has a deserved reputation as a charming city that offers many experiences – from cultural to wild nightlife, there is a lot to see and do.
6. Lisbon, Portugal
“The city of colors” is a great explanation of the Portuguese capital. Lisbon is a vibrant city with a rich history that is located between 7 hills.
Each hill offers an astonishing view of the city and the Tagus River. The city and the surroundings are a mix of modern and historical places.
Besides the cultural and historical landmarks, you have to spend enough time exploring Portuguese cuisine. Lisbon is famous for pastel de nata desert which is just one of the many unique tastes you can experience in Lisbon.
7. Berlin, Germany
Many tourists say that Berlin is different from any other German city. The capital of Germany has a bohemian vibe and feels more traditional. There are still many scars from the city’s recent past like a small piece of the Berlin Wall.
You will need at least a week to visit all the landmarks but also don’t forget to enjoy the nightlife. Berlin is very famous for its diversity of restaurants, clubs, bars, and discos.
8. Rome, Italy
All roads lead to Rome – in the past a capital of the Roman Empire, today one of the best tourists’ destinations. A trip to Rome it’s like a time travel machine. You can see impressive buildings from the Roman Empire like the Coliseum and from the Medieval centuries like Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore.
